Global Ministry Makes Impact on Kenya

Bishop Lyle Dukes of Harvest Life Changers World Missions and covenant partner Christian Outreach Ministries Kenya, dedicated the new Harvest Conference Centre in Nakuru, Kenya on December 6, 2009. Dukes and a team of 14 individuals from the United States celebrated with over 1,000 people during the dedication ceremony that ended a weeklong conference.

Three years ago, Lyle and Deborah Dukes Ministries, which broadcasts over the TBN Family Channel in Kenya, decided to make Kenya a primary focus for its global ministry. Over the last two years they have invested over $100,000 USD into the Nakuru area, providing jobs and purchases for the construction of the conference centre. Bishop Jonah Bedan, who heads Christian Outreach Ministries, managed the project and is the Bishop and overseer of over 400 churches in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

"The dedication of the Harvest Conference Centre represents a great partnership and the beginning of a large scale work to help the people in Kenya and surrounding areas" Bedan said. "There are wonderful opportunities ahead of us."

Many of the opportunities start with the centre itself. Not only will it be able to offer worship services weekly but it will provide a place of distribution for food, clothing and other necessities during these challenging times. Potential plans for the ministry compound include a medical centre, dormitory for 1,000 and a Bible school. The organizations already have various schools for children around the country and plans the establishment of more in the near future. The current objective is to use the centre in Nakuru as a headquarters for several projects around the country.

"The work is truly a Kenya-wide assignment" Bishop Dukes stated. "We hope to develop, along with our network of churches, strong partnerships with the Government of Kenya and enterprising businesses in order to aid the people of Kenya. We plan in the coming years to bring millions of dollars to this effort."

One of the goals will be to possibly assist in construction and establishment of public/government facilities and programs in areas that have the greatest need.

"We want to reach the people in crisis and in difficult situations first" Bedan said. "There are cities and villages that need immediate attention - we want to reach out to them."

"If we can work together, vast achievements can be made. Our ambition is to facilitate change through lasting programs but we want to get to those that are facing hardship immediately" Dukes said. "Our ministries already have in place organizations that will provide medical supplies and other resources as well as financial backing."

Bishop Dukes is the Senior Pastor of the Harvest Life Changers Church in Woodbridge, Virginia USA. He leads with his wife, Pastor Deborah Dukes, a ministry of over 6,000 people. Bishop Dukes is also the principle leader of the Empowerment Fellowship of Christian Churches which has churches around the world, including England, India and Africa.
