Brigham Young University And University Of Utah Alumni Football Players To Speak At Sold-Out Bikes For Kids Utah Annual Dinner Auction

Jason Kaufusi, former UofU All-American football player, and Reno Mahe, former BYU football player, will speak at Bikes for Kids? final fundraising event of the year.

SALT LAKE CITY ? Bikes for Kids Utah today announced that Jason Kaufusi, former football player for the University of Utah team and current Utah football coach, and Reno Mahe, former football player for the Brigham Young University and Philadelphia Eagles football teams, will address Bikes for Kids Utah supporters at the sold-out annual Bikes for Kids Utah Dinner Auction at La Caille Restaurant, 9565 So. Wasatch Blvd. on Tuesday, September 1 at 6 p.m.

This speaker pair keeps with the friendly rivalry of the second annual Bikes for Kids Utah Red vs. Blue Time Trial happening on Saturday, August 29.

?Reno and Jason are both great examples of determined and successful athletes,? said Debbie Reid, founder and director of Bikes for Kids Utah.? We think their presentations at the dinner auction will show the community that anyone invested in athletics, not just cycling, can be an enthusiastic supporter of the Bikes for Kids cause.?

Reno Mahe grew up in Salt Lake City and attended Brighton High School before starting his freshman year playing football at Brigham Young University as a wide receiver and an alternate running back. Mahe greatly strengthened BYU?s offense in 2001, when it was the highest scoring in the nation. He became a favorite among BYU fans for his energetic plays in a game against the University of Utah team. Mahe went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2003-2008.

Jason Kaufusi began playing for the Brigham Young University football team in 2000 after graduating from East High School in Salt Lake City and serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His last game was Utah?s win over BYU in 2002 when he badly injured his shoulder. Though this game ended his football career, it capped second consecutive first-team all-Mountain West Conference campaign for the junior defensive end. Kaufusi is now a football coach for the University of Utah.

Dinner auction highlights include a silent auction, entertainment, dinner and official awards ceremony for the Red vs. Blue Time Trial. Tickets for the dinner event are $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10. Auction items include weekend getaway packages, bicycles, TV?s and artwork to name a few.

Last year?s Bikes for Kids Utah Time Trial and Dinner Auction together raised $10,000 with 80 participating racers and 180 guests bidding on silent auction items.

Though the dinner is sold out, Bikes for Kids Utah is working with La Caille to add more tables for those interested in attending who haven?t yet purchased their tickets. To purchase tickets for the Bikes for Kids Dinner Auction, donate items for the silent auction or participate in the Red vs. Blue time trial, please visit or call 801.523.3730.
