Teacher, author, and founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt focuses on "Healing the Hard Stuff ? on her show "Why Shamanism Now? A Practical Path to Authenticity."

Streaming live on the Voice America Network (www.voiceamerica.com) on Wednesday, April 22 at 2 p.m. Pacific time/5 p.m. Eastern time, on her show "Why Shamanism Now?", founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing, Christina Pratt, says that, from a shamanic point of view, people can?t heal from certain life experiences and traumas using only contemporary medicine. According to Pratt, some wounds are taken in at the soul level, and it takes soul medicine to heal them. Shamanism offers us this medicine.

In this episode of "Why Shamanism Now? ? Healing the Hard Stuff?, Pratt talks about how the ?hard stuff? happens for several reasons: experiences that are too deep, too pervasive, or too frightening. When events are too intense, happen quickly, or are life threatening, they cause soul loss, and we are left feeling a deep hole, a loss of self, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). When we weave a web of poor choices, addictions, and too much of the wrong kind of help, the problem becomes too pervasive to transform by conventional means. It can be too frightening to face the Unknown or our fear of Death to cross the gap between where we are and the healing that we need. Pratt discusses how shamanism uniquely transforms the hard stuff with ease into soulful healing and great gifts.

Christina Pratt is an authentic, non-traditional contemporary shaman. In practice since 1990, she specializes in mending the soul and transforming the parts of life that feel impossible. A teacher of exceptional clarity, humor, and inspiration, Pratt brings the power of shamanism into the practical grasp of anyone willing to take responsibility for improving the quality of their life. Her well-received book, An Encyclopedia of Shamanism (Rosen), is an 800 page, two-volume set with over 750 in-depth entries that clearly discuss the basic concepts of shamanism, methods, and traditions of over 50 different shamanic peoples. Pratt is the founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing in Portland, OR, and New York, NY, creator of the original Foundations of Shamanism and Shamanic Healing course at the University of Minnesota, and a frequent and honored speaker for the American Holistic Medical Association.
