The American Small Business Coalition Gains Momintum?

In its first two years, The ASBC has educated Small Businesses on government contracting processes; helped them establish relationships to find/ win business in the federal sector.

Today marks two years since The American Small Business Coalition (The ASBC) launched its membership program to support companies doing business with the federal agencies of the U.S. Government. This evening, along with Members, Sponsors and friends, The ASBC will celebrate at a private reception hosted and co-sponsored by the City Club of Washington.

The American Small Business Coalition ( is a privately owned membership organization providing education and business support to companies that do business with federal agencies and federal contractors. The membership consists of small, medium and large businesses from multiple industries, and like-minded associations that support the small business community. The ASBC also supports government agencies with market research activities and industry outreach designed to facilitate an ongoing exchange of information. Membership is available to government employees and officials at no charge.

?The ASBC tagline, ?Information, Relationships And Access For The Federal Sector,? emphasizes the key components required to create a success formula in this close-knit community,? says Guy Timberlake, Founder and Chief Executive. ?The ASBC itself is a community of companies working together to achieve a common goal. What we?ve developed is a niche business platform where companies prosper by jointly developing information and teaming.?

Companies participating in The ASBC Business Membership enjoy the full scope of benefits offered. These benefits include access to relationships, experience, actionable intelligence and teaming opportunities, some of which are acquired through a network that includes nine Alliance Partners representing more than 500,000 businesses and individual professionals. The ASBC also has two advisory groups that boast more than one hundred years of active experience in both industry and government and includes retired senior military officers, civilian agency executives and industry professionals.

?The ASBC was never intended to be an end-all solution for companies, but an added resource to leverage as they do business. Because we are solely focused on the day-to-day aspects of doing business in the public sector, we established our Alliance Partner program to give our Members access to organizations that could support their efforts in different areas than we are able to. We collaborate with our Partners to exchange relevant expertise so that both organizations benefit. In some cases, we negotiate for benefits that result in our Members receiving reciprocal membership privileges with our Alliance Partner organizations.?

Some of the groups that have already partnered with The ASBC include Teqcorner, Women Impacting Public Policy, National Center for Open Source Policy and Research, Retired Military Officers Association, Institute of Management Consultants-NCR and TiE-DC.

The celebration this evening will feature the presentation of a check to the Casey Cares Foundation (, a Baltimore-based charity that contributes ninety-eight cents of every dollar donated to normalcy programs for critically ill children and their families. ?The generosity of our sponsors is a major factor in The ASBC being able to donate a portion of the registration fees collected for the event. We?ll also be accepting donations for Casey Cares at the reception,? added Margaret Timberlake, The ASBC?s Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder. Casey Baynes, founder of the Casey Cares Foundation, will attend the event.
