"The University of Missouri-Columbia International Center for Psychosocial Trauma and The International Medical & Educational Trust, with the funding support of Astra Zeneca, is organizing a workshop in Trauma Psychiatry entitled "Promoting Resiliency and Recovery in Post Katrina New Orleans." The workshop will be held in New Orleans from March 6-8, 2008.
"The University of Missouri-Columbia International Center for Psychosocial Trauma and The International Medical & Educational Trust, with the funding support of Astra Zeneca, is organizing a workshop in Trauma Psychiatry entitled "Promoting Resiliency and Recovery in Post Katrina New Orleans." The workshop will be held in New Orleans from March 6-8, 2008. A large number of mental health professionals, medical practitioners and community volunteers are expected to participate in this training offered by nationally and internationally known experts in the field.
The objectives of the workshop include: (1) to develop skills in identifying the psychological consequences of the hurricane Katrina disaster on children and their families, (2) to provide practicum in evidence based intervention techniques in trauma recovery to the participants, and (3) to develop a road map for disaster preparedness for children, their families and the community for before, during and after the disaster.
This three-day training course will be held at Loyola University from 9am to 6pm on Thursday, March 6th and Friday, March 7th, and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, March 8th. We would like to recognize Loyola University Office of Alumni and Parent Relations for the donation of their facilities to this event. There is no cost to participants for registration and approximately 15 CEU/CME credit hours will be provided for full course attendance.
