They have well trained and experienced elders who will guide in Ayahuasca ceremony. The community works with various herbal plants and plant preparations such as, Ambil, Mambe and Yage. Ayahuasca healing retreat is located at Santa Elena, Antioquia just an hour from Medellin. In Colombia, Ayahuasca ceremony last all night. They provide three types of sacred medicine ceremonies for relaxation both physically and mentally.
What is Ayahuasca?
Ayahuasca is one of the sacred plants in the Amazon. It is an herbal plant used to prepare a medicine. Ayahuasca combined with Chacruna produces the Yage medicine (brew). This medicine specially prepared by elders in the Amazon region. They will cook this medicine with care and it takes a week to complete. During the Ayahuasca ceremony, they will provide Ayahuasca brew twice at night to drink.
Ayahuasca retreats actually start with some food conditions. If you want to get the retreat with Ayahuasca, then you must eat only light vegetarian food for three days with low level of salt, sugar and fat before taking Ayahuasca healing. Consuming of alcohol is also prohibited during the Ayahuasca ceremony. You will begin your retreat with a herbal plant bath which will help you to prepare for the ceremony.
The Guidelines are:
• No red / heavy meats
• No strong alcohol, beer, wine
• No fermented or non-fresh foods, pickled foods, dried fruits and smoked meats
• Avoid drinking too much of water during Ayahuasca ceremony.
Camino al Sol Community’s Shamans
Shamans or Taitas are the elders in the Amazon region who have strong knowledge in herbal plants and also have more than 40 years of experience in preparing sacred medicines. They have some principles during the preparation of Ayahuasca brew, they will not allow anyone during medicine preparation, and they sleep on leaves. Francisco Piaguaje is one the Camino al Sol community’s Taitas, he has been working tirelessly to provide medicine and education for his community. He teaches the children, the traditional language to preserve their language.
