Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. Appoints New Board Members

ADRC welcomes new boards members.

Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) is pleased to announce that Virginia Belling, Julie Levine and Richard W. Scher, D.C. have joined the group's Board of Directors. Each member has a unique set of skills that will help benefit ADRC in its mission to support research on Alzheimer’s disease and provide assistance to families in need.

Ms. Belling, Senior Vice President of New York Community Bank/Roslyn Savings Bank Division, has over 40 years of banking experience across New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, and New Jersey. She presently oversees the 29 branches of the two Retail Banking Regions of Suffolk County. The bank is a longtime supporter of ADRC's Walk for Alzheimer's. The cause is very dear to Ms. Belling, whose father had Alzheimer's disease.

In addition to her work with ADRC, she is an active board member of the local Amityville Rotary Club, Rotary Foundation Chair, and committee member of the Gift of Life Gala and the annual Apple Festival.

Ms. Levine has spent over 25 years in the music industry as a record label executive and also ran the VCAST Video On Demand business at Verizon Wireless. When her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2005, Ms. Levine began to care for her. Using her knowledge of managing finances and caring for others, she was able to obtain Medicaid approvals, set up trusts, and hire daily caretakers.

Ms. Levine is also the founder of Organize My Life, which provides support and direction for a variety of situations that seniors face, including paying bills, resolving health insurance issues, and day-to-day financial details. Ms. Levine recently expanded her practice to support clients in various life stages.

Dr. Scher, who has 35 years of experience as a chiropractor, is President of Care Connection Home Care LLC, which provides the elderly with high-quality health care services in their homes as well as non-medical companionship. He is the former Advocacy Committee Co-Chairman of Senior Umbrella Network Nassau County, where he oversaw advocacy projects which benefitted local seniors.

He is also the owner and director of Cherrywood Chiropractic & Sports Injury Center. Dr. Scher is a member of numerous civic and professional organizations in addition to serving as President of the Nassau District of the NYS Chiropractic Association and as member of the association's Board of Directors.

“We are delighted to have Ms. Levine, Ms. Belling and Dr. Scher join our Board of Directors,” said Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, ADRC. “They will help us in our mission in providing funding for local research into finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease, helping those who are suffering with the disease and other dementias and offering needed services.”
