Bangalore, 11th November 2014:Sakra World Hospital, a joint venture of the Kirloskar group, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and SECOM of Japan has joined hands with Partners Medical International, the academic arm of Partners HealthCare, one of the leading non-profit health care systems in the USAand associated with Harvardaffiliated Hospitals like Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston to bring world-class treatment options for heart patients in India.

Under this new collaboration, Sakra World Hospital shall look into widening the possibilities of treatments for End Stage Heart Failure patients in India through exchange of knowledge, experience, expertise, processes, protocols sharing technical knowledge on the subject. It will also enable academic exchange programme between participating institutes and overview of quality systems and JCI guidelines to help in the process of JCI accreditation.

Further Dr. Raajiv Singhal, Group CEO - Sakra World Hospital announced the launch of Heart Failure Clinic at Sakra World Hospital to address the epidemic of heart disease in India “End stage heart failure carries high mortality and morbidity. Patients suffering from end stage heart failure are frequently in and out of hospitals and have very poor quality of life. For these patients all medical options should have already been exhausted barring heart transplant and LVAD (high end devices that support the heart function), both of which are still in infancy stage in India. We are pleased to launch Heart Failure Clinic at Sakra which is our first step towards establishing a Heart Transplant Program”

In full attendance by the experts from the healthcare industry, the 2-day confluence isseeing the speakers highlighting new treatments and techniques in managing Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO), Stroke Program, Interventional Cardiology, Multivessel disease, Revascularisation which were discussed at length. Thus broadening the scope of treatment of difficult cardiac disorders like the end stage heart failure, CTO and diffused coronary disease.

The procedures using bi-plane cathlab, enable visualization of smaller body parts like thin vessels of the heart and facilitates intra-operative 3D imaging.

The 80 ICU beds are supported by high-end equipment with a central monitoring system. This facilitates quick and easy collection / access and transmission of patient's data to any department in the hospital network. There are dedicated isolation rooms for patients who are highly infection prone.

The 24-hour level 1 emergency and trauma care unit, the first of its kind, is top-notch. To enhance the response time for medical emergencies, the triage area (casualty), resuscitation area (revival), ICU and OT are all located on the same floor. The emergency bay has a mini lab / static lab facility with critical equipments such as blood gas analyser, cell counter etc., to empower doctors in taking quicker and better informed decisions.
