Stevens-Henager College, Ogden student representatives invited to Phi Beta Lambda National Competition in Orlando

Future Business Leaders of America-PBL recognizes excellence in a broad range of business- and career-related areas.

Winners representing Stevens-Henager College in the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda state competition have been invited to Orlando for the national competition in June. Money is currently being raised for the entire competitive team from Stevens-Henager to travel to Florida June 22 through June 26 for the nationals.

In April, the Stevens-Henager team competed in the statewide competition against 150 students from 11 other colleges and universities in business disciplines across the spectrum, including business law, justice administration, financial concepts, micro-economics, client services, emerging issues, sales presentations, human resource management, information management, accounting principles, and future business executive competencies.

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) is an American career and technical student organization typically affiliated with an institution's business department. FBLA-PBL is the largest student-run, business-related organization in the world. It is considered an honor for state competitors to qualify to compete at the national level in the FBLA-PBL competition, because they have demonstrated skills superior to other competitors from their state, as Stevens-Henager students did in Utah. The following are the awards won by the Stevens-Henager team:

Lesa Eastes
? 1st in Business Law-Lesa defeated three members from Utah Valley University; Dixie State; Snow College; Snow College-Richfield; College of Eastern Utah; and University of Utah.
? 1st in Justice Administration-Lesa defeated Utah Valley University and Snow College-Richfield.
? 3rd in Financial Concepts-Lesa defeated three competitors from Utah Valley University.
? 3rd in Micro-Economics-Lesa defeated University of Utah; two members from Utah Valley University; two members from Snow College; and Southern Utah University.
Joshua Pinney
? 1st in Client Services-Joshua defeated Southern Utah University; Utah Valley University; Utah State University; and Weber State University.
? 2nd in Business Presentations-Joshua defeated Dixie State; Utah State University; Snow College; and Snow College-Richfield.
? 2nd in Emerging Business Issues-Joshua defeated Dixie State and Utah Valley University.
? 2nd in Sales Presentations-Joshua defeated two members from Southern Utah University; two members from Snow College; Snow College-Richfield; and Dixie State.
Scott Watts
? 2nd in Business Presentations-Scott defeated Dixie State; Utah State University; Snow College; and Snow College-Richfield.
? 2nd in Emerging Business Issues-Scott defeated Dixie State and Utah Valley University.
? 4th in Human Resource Management
Alan Grice
? 4th in Information Management
? 4th in Justice Administration
Tamara Hamill
? 2nd in Business Presentations-Tamara defeated Dixie State; Utah State University; Snow College; and Snow College-Richfield.
? 4th in Future Business Executive

? 3rd in Information Management

Cliff Johnson
? 4th in Accounting Principles-Cliff defeated Snow College; Utah Valley University; College of Eastern Utah; Weber State University; and Southern Utah University.

? 4th in Human Resource Management

Jonathan Miconi
? 6th in Marketing Concepts-Jonathan defeated two members from Weber State University; and Southern Utah University.
? 6th in Business Decision Making-Jonathan defeated Southern Utah University.
? 6th in Business Ethics
? 7th in Management Concepts-Jonathan defeated Snow College.
? 8th in Business Law-Jonathan defeated Utah Valley University and Dixie State.
? 8th in Accounting Principles-Jonathan defeated Southern Utah University and Weber State University.

"We are very proud of these Stevens-Henager individuals for their outstanding achievements at the Utah competition," says Vicky Dewsnup, president of Stevens-Henager College, Ogden. "We are excited this exceptional team will compete nationally and are confident as they prepare for June."

Hamill, Miconi, Eastes, Pinney and Watts have all earned slots to compete at nationals. Hamill will compete in the business presentations area, Miconi in accounting principles, Eastes in justice administration and business law, Pinney in client services and emerging business issues, and Watts in emerging business issues. Alan Grice will compete in information management and Charlotte Norman will be competing in the open events.
