Lynn Weaver Is A Driven Professional Who Worked For Sprint Nextel For 22 Years

Lynn A. Weaver, Retired Technical Project Program Manager II at Sprint Nextel, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who.

Lynn A. Weaver, Retired Technical Project Program Manager II at Sprint Nextel, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in people and program management, process improvement, and technical acumen in the field of telecommunications.

Ms. Weaver spent much of her career with Sprint as a Supervisor of Software Development. She excelled at team building and particularly enjoyed mentoring and coaching her employees in their professional development. At the time she retired, she had accrued a total of 22 years of experience with the company, not to mention strong skills in software development, quality assurance, and problem-solving.

Technical Project/ Program Manager II is the last position Ms. Weaver held with Sprint. In this role, she used her expertise in troubleshooting to assist teams that consistently failed to meet financial obligations. After reviewing the team's project financials and estimating practices, she developed and implemented new financial models that ensured compliance, Ms. Weaver witnessed significant turnarounds, often reducing budget overages from 40 percent to within financial compliance at +/-10 percent. She also monitored project pipelines to ensure that application impacts were identified correctly, securing cost-effective resource utilization. She performed in the role of Resource Manger for her team and played a key role in the company wide implementation of the Clarity performance management tool.

Ms. Weaver is extremely experienced in the practices and philosophies of Change Management. The telecommunications industry started its downturn in the year 2000 and she was responsible for maintaining a superior level of work quality and employee morale during 12 separate downsizing events. During her tenure, Sprint changed CEOs 3 times and Senior Level VPs numerous times, which spawned significant change in culture and direction. In 2004, the entire IT organization, some 4,000 employees, was outsourced to IBM and her team continued to function with great success. Downsizing and subsequent re-structuring became second nature and was particularly challenging for mid-level management. She is proud to have built a solid team, which she calls a working family, in which all members developed their skills together and retained their jobs through troubled times.

Although Ms. Weaver led a truly successful career with Sprint, it was not accomplished without prior hardship. At the age of 27, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was given only a year and a half to live. However, she refused the treatment of heavy doses of chemotherapy and instead, became involved in the research of immunotherapy performed by Dr. Loren Humphreys. For 15 months, Ms. Weaver was injected with dead cancer cells so that her immune system could develop cancer-fighting antibodies. Ms. Weaver credits her survival to a combination of surgery, psychological counseling, immunotherapy and a strong support group. She is a breast cancer survivor of 28 years and shares her story in an effort to provide hope to other cancer patients and their families who are victims of this devastating disease.

Today, Ms. Weaver is in the process of selling her home and moving to Tucson, Ariz. so that she may be closer to her parents. Yet she has no intentions of remaining retired. Rather, she has aspirations of venturing into new fields of interests such as; Aerospace and Defense Systems, or, Healthcare and Finance, which she worked in prior to her career in Telecommunications. Ms. Weaver is an advocate for animal rescue organizations and has saved two cats and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, reading and home decorating.
