Franklin County Hometown Vet Publishes Book Of Poetry To Release The Soul

Linda Turner is a Franklin County veteran who has a remarkable story of Courage and Grace in facing her adversities head on. After serving in the Air Force for 10 years and returning home to fight the greatest battle of her life. She is like a Timex watch, she "takes a licking and keeps on ticking."

Hometown Vet returns home to undergo 31 operations, and survives four near death experiences.

Linda Turner, an ex-vet, served her country in the Air Force, from 1975 to 1985, as a Sergeant. Her return home to Franklin County has been met with severe health setbacks. Life after the service has had its challenges but Linda Turner never gave in and has never given up. She is like the Timex Watch, she takes a licking and keeps on ticking, with a great attitude and a positive outlook on life.

The wind beneath Linda's wings, driving her passion and purpose may very well have its roots in her four near death encounters.

According to Turner, "I died, and there was this bright light. I heard a voice say, 'go back, it's not your time yet, you still have work to do.' "

The secret to Linda Turner's joy, strength and great attitude about life, is her faith. In her words, "My faith is everything to me. I couldn't have made it without my faith."

The operations and the near death experiences have given Turner a new perspective on life.
Turner spends her time playing music in at least five local churches and shares her thoughts in poetry bringing encouragement, smiles and hope to many she encounters on a daily basis. Turner refuses to allow challenges to rain on her parade.

As she puts it, "Writing and reciting poetry is a way of escape into another world, where you forget about you and focus on seeing the good and the humorous side in every situation you find yourself."

Turner, who continues to reach for higher heights, to push on with life, has published a book of poetry, a long time dream fulfilled. The title of the book: God Gives Second Chances - A Red Rose For the Future, published by Changing Lives Changing the World, Inc.
